Youth-Facing Roles

Youth-facing roles typically take place:

  • During the school year: After school hours (3:00 PM and later)

  • Summer: Mornings (9am start time)

  • On weekends

  • During daytime hours on school breaks

Consistency is essential in these roles.

Background check and references required

    • Student Advocates: You will work directly with our students. Because consistency is key for our youth, we ask that you stay with the same group of students for both dates in the session.

    • Table Admins: You will manage check in/out, monitor hallways, and assist in logistics to keep the studio running smoothly.

  • Approximately 1 hour per week (after 3:00 PM)

    Participate alongside students during visual arts programming, building supportive and consistent relationships.

    Sites in Goddard, Wichita, and Newton.

    Must be 21+ years of age.

  • Approximately 1 hour per week (after 3:00 PM)

    Serve as a steady adult mentor and presence during music programming. No teaching required — connection and participation are the priority.

    Sites in Goddard, Wichita, and Newton.

    Must be 21+ years of age.

  • Approximately 1.5 hours per week

    Support programming and mentor youth through classes inside the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility.

    Classes vary between music, visual arts, and performing arts.

    Must be 22 years of age or older.

  • Assist with choir workshops, performances, and outreach initiatives, which may occur evenings or weekends.

    Must be 21+ years of age.

Minimal Youth-Facing Roles

Minimal youth-facing roles typically take place:

  • On a flexible or less-regular schedule.

Consistency is essential in these roles

  • Support planning and execution of fundraising and community events.

    Meets as-needed

  • Assist with donor engagement, sponsorship outreach, and fundraising strategy.

    Meets once a month

  • Join a responsive support team that helps meet practical and seasonal needs throughout the year. This may include organizing supply drives, preparing materials, assisting with special projects, or strengthening behind-the-scenes operations that sustain programming.

    Volunteers as-needed, your choice

  • Commit to preparing homemade snacks and baked goods for classes, workshops, or camps based on your availability. Creative Fuel Team members help ensure students feel welcomed and cared for through consistent, thoughtful hospitality.

    For safety and facility compliance, all food contributions must:

    • Be prepared in a clean home kitchen environment

    • Be individually wrapped or packaged as possible

    • Provide a list of ingredients to program director

    • Avoid common high-risk allergens unless otherwise approved
